Don’t forget the pets.

Of course!

I created a Pet Emergency Preparedness Guide & Kit Checklist just for this.

Pets are food.

If the chips are down, you’d eat your dog.

Don’t deny it.

Rocket Rog's avatar

Pets? They’ll become a food source for humans.

MJ Rutledge's avatar

Also, don’t forget: Amazon, Home Depot, and Walmart are being boycotted, since February.

Craig's avatar

Most of these items can be found in local hardware stores.

Shop local when you can!

NJO's avatar

We use Ace Hardware (a cooperative), and McClendon's - was a 4th generation family owned store till they sold to a group.

Wm Dawg's avatar

Thanks for the reminder. Saved me the trouble of mentioning fuck Amazon and Walmart.

Elle0609's avatar

And Target!

Erin Leigh | WitchySelfHealer's avatar

Or maybe even before then if you had your head out of the sand and some values pre-February…🙄 Don’t forget, fuck Target, too.

William Shy's avatar

target has donated 1million to vance trump

Marta Simmons's avatar

I totally agree with you and have been using alternate sources almost exclusively. It turns out your local hardware store can order just about anything for you in a couple of days. It may even be cheaper or maybe just a bit more. I live in a small town and like to buy local when I can. I may place one order now to Amazon 😉 and then follow up at COSTCO.

A R's avatar

Because they bent knee to Frump. Amazon was going to list tariff costs as part of each listing. Bezos backed off when he got pressured about it. Similar things for the others mentioned.

Steveo's avatar

There is no republican, democrat party, It's all one big pedo uniparty. If you haven't been reading the release of the epstein files, you should. Besides, behind every company is black rock and vanguard. They own everything that owns everyone. Prepare for the end, it's coming fast and convid was just the start, it's going to get really bad, really fast.

Live Life Not Behind Glass's avatar

Interesting, I guess that’s another thing to add to the list of reasons.

Marta Simmons's avatar

Some of these are companies that donated heavily to his inauguration.

Jake Martin | Modern Exodus's avatar

Love me some Amazon, Home Depot, and Walmart.

Marta Simmons's avatar

In a democracy, you’re free to shop there if you don’t mind lining the owner’s pockets.

Idesta's avatar

I with many other friends, I know of have been boycotting long before this. It’s just that nobody paid attention until now. … that’s right until it hit them personally in their pocketbook that’s when people pay attention right

I have been boycotting Amazon for many many years. You wouldn’t find me sitting in foot in a Home Depot or Walmart or any of these other companies that don’t take care of their employees.

And promote what’s going on in this country today with all the racism and bigotry and all the spiritual narcissism

I do not shop at Walmart, Home Depot or any business that doesn’t take care of their employees and are in fact, supporting racism and bigotry in all this ugliness that’s going on in the country. They’re behind it. They fund it. They support it stop buying from these people start looking at what companies are supporting who Start looking at who’s paying? Who for what it’s the same old shit same old story follow the money people.

Jill Littlewood's avatar

I spend the extra time to order from the company that makes the product. Or I get what I want on eBay. Not sure their politics. But for sure the companies you mention helped get us into this mess.

MJ Rutledge's avatar

Yes, we have also found that we get better service buying from the manufacturer, free shipping, and more often than not, they are located within the "UnUnited" States. And the reality is: It doesn't take that much extra time to find sources, and then you now know who to get it from next time. Have been SO impressed with the companies we are now buying from, from toilet paper to solar generators and everything in-between. Have Never for a Moment regretted boycotting these companies--and many others--who choose to funnel our hard-earned dollars to the Destruction of our Country...

Maureen Hatfield's avatar

Hmmm. GUU shows winco Republican campaign score is 79%, Democratic campaign level is 21%, and campaign reform score is -38.

Rocket Rog's avatar

Really? This is news to me. I haven’t boycotted anyone because it’s futile. Want to change things? Vote in November 26 and November 28. Then this nightmare will end.

That are also on my boycott list. On Goods Unite Us winco is listed as Republican contributors (at last check)! I was very sad.

Mary Ann's avatar

They don’t get involved in politics because it is employee owned. The employees would have to have a say in it, and as a retired Winco employee, I know that we stay out of politics.

Maureen Hatfield's avatar

Reposted info from GUU today: 79% Ted, 21% blue, -38% campaign reform. Seems it worsens every time I check.

Mary Ann's avatar

This is from Open Secrets verifying my point. The company is employee owned and therefore cannot donate to anything political. The donations that you speak of are from individual employees.

NOTE: The organization itself did not donate, rather the money came from the organization's individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate family members. Organizations themselves cannot contribute to candidates and party committees. Totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

Maureen Hatfield's avatar

Not familiar with open secrets. Another to add to my arsenal. Thank you, but given what I know, continue to be off my list, but appreciate the info. Thank you!

Maureen Hatfield's avatar

Just posted Winco rating from Goids unite us, hoping it improved, but sadly not. 71% contribution level Republican, 21% Dem. The good news: company doesn’t contribute to PAC’s. Still off my list.

Maggie W.'s avatar

All of this is really great, but whether or not there will be a catastrophic crisis, it’s likely there will be food shortages, possibly this winter. I’m an organic farmer in the midwest and we’ve been hit hard by climate issues, tariffs on fertilizer usually bought in Canada (or for me, turkey manure not available bc bird flu wiped out my usual source) and foreign and govt markets are gone, causing some farmers to not bother and just sell their land. You can’t hire help - Americans won’t work in the dirt for the low wages migrant workers have worked. I could go on! So learn to safely can and store food, grow as much as you can (it might be too late for seeds, but vegetable plants are still available), and research what stores well and what you can grow indoors.

Craig's avatar

Great advice Maggie 👍

Jody Brink's avatar

I've been seed saving for several years now. I only plant open pollinated varieties.

Steveo's avatar

They've planned these attacks for decades. The bird flu was as fake as covid because they wanted to get rid of food but also the manure. And all of the geoengineered weather is to destroy land, homes, etc. Now watch how bad this fake war in iran makes things. We're rapidly approaching the great famine of 2028 (planned) which is another stepping stone to the great reset, new world order.

Sharon Bouchard's avatar

Watch Rosered Homestead for canning and other living off the grid tips. She has the science down on food preservation. There's a lot of kooky stuff out there.

Mary's avatar

Thank you! I've been growing vegetables for myself for the past few years and I do have raspberries galore thankfully. Howling Wolf - I get the feeling you might not be running your own farm, and that’s okay, but a lot of misinformation has been promoted and you might be interested in how the legal aspects related to agriculture have functioned for a long time. The LEGAL H2-A Visa program for temporary agricultural workers was modified in the 80s, and has been part of a program that began in 1942. It allows farmers to legally hire temporary ag workers at rates stipulated by their state, as needed. I can only speak for myself - nothing to do with promoting breaking the law whatsoever and I’m sorry you jumped to that conclusion, but these workers do not seem to be available this year in my farming community. People can draw their own conclusions as to why. All attempts to hire help have failed for my farm, and I have seen notices posted by other farms trying to hire local help now at rates twice what the H2-A Visa rates stipulate. My belief is those increased costs will be reflected in both the cost of food and the amount of food available.

I've never thought I would read such an advice from happenings like now, causing fear and recomendations to prepare for the worst from the USA. You've always been the free land with only two borders , protected by the vastness of the Pacific and Atlantic ocean, respected in the world for your strength built on the Constitution of your Fathers.

And now this.

Get rid of this president and his cult like movement as soon as possible, and most of your fear and problems will go away.

The free world needs a free Amerika, free citizens, your optimism, your political and military strength. Seeing you in the present state hurts. All the best to you from Europe.

Thanks for the well wishes! But we have actually been going down this road for awhile and this administration is no worse than others. Bush with stripping American of rights with The Patriot Act, which was reapproved last year.

The government has us sniping and hating on with other while the make tv drama and work together for the advancement of only themselves

SxC's avatar

Right?!?! Such an obvious goddamn lie, but so many have bought into it. There are official records and reports on those records that tell the truth, yet trump has seemingly proven that if you tell a lie enough times, people will believe it. https://www.cato.org/blog/biden-didnt-cause-border-crisis-part-1-summary

And, this post is in part about the high potential for destabilization, which is being caused in part because immigrants are not able to work on the farms that provide our food. What an absolute self-own to complain about the people who have been helping to maintain stability when their disappearance is a huge contributing factor to the coming crisis that is the subject of this whole thread.

Ffs, the film *Idiocracy* wasn’t supposed to be so prophetic.

Come on, Trump is unfit to his duty. If you haven't recognized that after all this political and economic damage, and there will be more to come, then you are avoiding the view on reality. By saying that I'm not trying to judge you personally, but that is how it is seen in Europe for a reason. Before Trump US forces had been seen as great safety assets, now they are seen as an uncomfortable liability. 40 years ago I was trained in Texas and California and fell in love with its greatness and excellence, I admired my flight instructors and the US citizens. I personally can't grasp where you are now and where it will end.

It's not the first time that a country elected unfit politicians, the US made that happen twice, and is obviously unable to correct that misjudgement.

If it's no irony, then

listen and remember my words. You obviously don't even know what a communist is. They had occupied east Germany after WW2 for 45 years, while the American Forces and Nato prevented them to invade the rest of Europe during the cold war. The same communists kill now civilians in Ukraine.

You have to get out of your information bubble to rcognize, that Trump is the biggest desaster the world has seen since Hitler.

Steveo's avatar

You clearly have no idea how politics work. All of these people are controlled and selected decades before they're installed. That goes for your country too. They're all set for toppling. That's what the new world order, agenda 2030 is all about. This has been planned for decades upon decades. What you seem to not understand is behind them is their evil masters, aipac, etc. and they're just carrying out their orders. Covid was fake and planned. Don't believe me? Do some research into the Georgia Guidestones where giant stones were anonymously contracted and installed in a very spiritual place in Georgia. And in these stones in mulitple languages they talked about getting rid of God, religion, etc., 85% of the population and on and on. Then a few years back they were mysteriously blown up on the 4th of july. You also ought to read the epstein files where all of these leaders, regardless of party, corporate ceo's, hollyweird celebrities, royal families etc., have been trafficking children for the purpose of raping, torture, extracting their blood and eating them. This isn't a party specific issue because it's just one big club. You have a lot to learn.

RetiredF4's avatar

Your election system is broken, and that's the main problem. When a person has to collect awsome sums of money to be allwed to join as candidate for the election process then the money will rule, not common sense.

I can't influence your thinking about Germany, but it holds no trueth. The former secretary of finance Theo Waigel was raised as son of a very poor farmer about 5 miles away from the village I was born. He still was a poor guy when he made his way up in the CSU party. His first wife was the teacher in the college my wife visited.

The former Secretary of foreign affairs Gerhard Müller is a close relative of myself, we both visited the same ground school. His parents poor farmers, and when I say poor then I mean poor. Both needed no money to get to the highest government positions, and they had no help from super rich people.

Steveo's avatar

They're all selected decades prior. Look at their illuminati hand signs. ALL. OF. THEM.

RetiredF4's avatar

I'm not in coonspiracy theories, it is your choice, but not mine and it definitely does not apply to German politicians.

Steveo's avatar

It's not a conspiracy theory, they admit to it. Check out the pics of merkel and her freemason hand signs. It's everywhere and it does apply to german politics. It's your choice to keep your head buried in the sand. Good luck, you're going to need it when you realize they're all in it and everything you have ever been told is a lie. I guess you think it's coincidence that three teenage friends, merkel (hitlers daughter) theresa may UK, and Dalia Grybauskaite all grew up to be world leaders?! 👌

RetiredF4's avatar

Well, that was my answer to Howling Wolf, but he chickened out and deleted his posted nonsense.

I made an emergency kit including all of these items. Everything would easily fit in the back of my car if I had to leave the area. I’d also recommend including a tent and sleeping bag and a fishing rod and reel. And a way to start a campfire even in inclement weather if you find yourself outdoors. Add a couple of pairs of solid boots like hikers, wellies, and a pair of Tevas. Keep all the supplies together in marked bins like Rubbermaid containers. If a crisis strikes, you don’t want to have to think too carefully about where all your supplies are. I have mine in my garage ready to go if need be. Or to shelter in place if that’s the right call for the specific situation. Take a course on outdoor survival if you can. Stay safe everyone!

Rachel C's avatar

Top problem for me is Transplant meds. I can only get 90 days supply at a time and must take daily. I try to refill as soon as I can, but it’s hard to stockpile something you must take daily. I don’t really have a plan for a point where the drugs simply aren’t there. I can afford highly prices for a while, but not forever 👹

Dottie's avatar

We are in the same boat. Hubby is on pain meds which big pharm won’t give any for a few days back up. We have begged and pleaded with the doctor to no end to come up with something to stash. But big pharm calculates to the day. So We will pray when the time comes and we’ll see how this works out.

That praying, brings peace.

Regina Weiner's avatar

Hi, my better half's got similar problems. I have arthritis myself. Here are legal, cheap and effective pain treatments I use and that keep well in a stockpile:

I can't use aspirin or other NSAIDs. Use coffee or caffeine tablets from Amazon.

Any inflammation yields beautifully to turmeric tablets with black pepper. Bonus points for ginger.

Read up on wild lettuce and learn to keep it preserved. It probably is growing in your backyard, but you can buy the seeds.

These are good pain meds that are actually good for you. Anyone with pain issues now should be doing research now on natural pain control and treatment and stockpiling what works best for you and your family. YouTube has ads for great books on herbal medicine that really helped me when I broke my arm. Worth your money and effort.

Dottie's avatar

Thanks for leaving your informative comment on what to take for inflammation/ arthritis. Not one minute before I read your suggestion I said to myself “ my whole body feels inflamed.” I can’t keep taking ibuprofen as it plays havoc on the kidneys. ( broke my foot and needed ibuprofen for the swelling so I could have therapy. ) anyhow I will try turmeric as I have heard that it is used for pain.

Hi there, insurance companies make these decisions not pharma. Do a deep dive into you’re health insurance and pharmacy coverage. If it’s not working for you is there a possibility you can switch plans to get better coverage? It takes some work but it’s worth it to know the ins and outs.

Have you tried looking into patient assistance from the company that makes your meds? Google the name of the drug, the company and patient assistance and you’ll find it. You do have to fill out paperwork but it could be an option for you. Also, ask you doctor for co-pay cards, free trial offer cards, check out GoodRx and Needymeds for possible discounts. Good luck to you! 💕

Or, how about helping to figure out a way that everyone gets what they need in a time of crisis? No one hoards, no one does without, no one has to protect or fight over anything, no one has to threaten anyone with violence to get what they need. Now there’s a novel idea…

Craig's avatar

Definitly a novel ideabut not always practical in reality.

Maria Gehrke (M)'s avatar

It's not even novel. People do this in crisis all the time. And especially if you have connected and gotten to know your neighbors and community members before. That is really our biggest asset to “stockpile”: community.

Since the second place hit the tower, my oldest was in infant, ive made sure there is enough food and other supplies on hand . Rotated always, it’s just been a part of living. Now I don’t store enough to last for more than 6 months ( somethings I can’t get like prescriptions) if the world here becomes so bad we would need more to last for longer, I wouldn’t want to last.

I have planted fruit trees, we currently have more berries than we can ever use. This will be good for trading if costs of these things go to high. More my worry than anything else is affording fresh fruits and vegetables. We freeze them. The wildlife is abundant here. From turkeys to deer. The thing I am adding this year is a wood stove to replace the pellet stove. Heat. That doesn’t rely on electricity. I won’t flee this place. I also will plan for departure if it all becomes too tough. I’m physically disabled with mobility issues. I’d rather my sons didn’t have me as a burden when prices skyrocket to the point we are contemplating killing Bambi.
